Q. Give me the skinny - what's Deadwood Magazine?
A. We're a monthly magazine featuring the art, entertainment, culture, history, news and images of the American Frontier, especially associated with the gold camp of Deadwood and the Black Hills region of South Dakota and Wyoming.

Q. What about the numbers?
A. All 24 pages of full-color Deadwood Magazine goodness are printed monthly. About 10,000 copies of the magazine are distributed in South Dakota and Wyoming and sent to subscribers. The magazine is 8.5 by 11 inches. Our editor's shoe size is 11.

Q. I have a killer story idea. I might even have one written here, just hanging out in my back pocket. Who do I talk to?
A. First off, review a couple recent copies of our magazine to make sure your idea and writing style fit our voice and publishing philosophies. For example, a story on the mythical fairy queens of Bratislava, while very original, probably won't fly. If you still think you have a winner, contact us. A resume and a couple clippings will help your chances. All the same, remember that our editorial calendar is determined approximately a year in advance. Even if we pick your story, it might not get printed for another 12 to 24 months.
